Cobalt Digital blazing a fast track to OTT

Celebrating 30 years in the broadcast industry , Axon Digital Design is affirming its commitment to delivering solutions that would support the industry ’ s move to 4K / Ultra HD ( UHD ), as well as help broadcasters to transit from SDI to IP .
The first solution Axon is presenting is the SynView multiviewer system , which is capable of managing both 4K / UHD and IP video formats . Designed to support a wide range of applications , from small to large monitoring walls , SynView can also be deployed as high source count monitor walls , or for outside broadcasting ( OB ) van preview monitoring and shading .
Available in two models , each in two versions — SDI I / O and Ethernet I / O — operators can deploy a mix of both versions to build a hybrid multiviewer system . Equipped with eight HD outputs and two 4K / UHD outputs , SynView also features multiple connector panels to allow for dif-
Studio . One , a virtual camera system designed for live video capture and streaming . It employs costeffective , ultra-high-resolution cameras with wide angle and / or fisheye lenses , thus allowing content producers to capture every aspect of a live event from multiple angles .
The system is designed to integrate into a traditional or IP broadcast environment and blend with virtual reality ( VR ) video production . This makes it ideal for remote Internet or broadcast live productions such as music concerts , sports events , church services and conferences , says Axon , who has created an interface for AZilPix Studio . One that enables the system ’ s cameras to link to the company ’ s Cerebrum control and monitoring software .

Dejero offering gateway to IP connectivity

When it comes to IP connectivity and network blending technology , Dejero is “ very well established ”, declares Mark Moore , VP of international sales , Dejero .
He continues : “ We have enabled field broadcast journalists to broadcast live and transfer high-quality content back to base from the remotest of locations .
“ The technology also enables crews to work with their facility ’ s newsroom systems as if they were actually back at base , thus extending broadcasters ’ workflows right into the field .”
This year , Dejero is highlighting the new Dejero Gateway , which provides electronic newsgathering ( ENG ) and production crews working remotely with a virtual network that extends broadcast workflows to the field .
Providing field crews with reliable , fast and secure access to the public Internet and private networks while in remote locations , Gateway users can quickly send and receive large files or access newsroom systems using Dejero ’ s network blending technology . The complete Gateway solution includes in-vehicle equipment , cellular connectivity services , cloud management and support .
New capabilities of Dejero ’ s EnGo mobile transmitter are also being showcased . The new EnGo Vehicle Mount Kit with integrated signal booster allows the mobile transmitter to be used like a rack-mounted encoder / transmitter in a cellular , satellite or hybrid IP transmission vehicle .
The EnGo can be quickly disconnected from the cradle and placed in a backpack , a sling bag or mounted directly on a camera to give crews maximum mobility when on the scene of breaking news and live events . The kit is available for existing EnGo units .
New EnGo features include the ability to transfer video to a Dejero server while recording , faster uploading of clips to get footage back to the station as quickly as possible , and renaming of clips on the server to simplify the management of files .
Visitors can also learn how the EnGo makes international travel easier with global roaming options and the convenient user-changeable SIM module . Dejero is exhibiting with Ideal Systems at booth 6M3-01 .

ferent I / O configurations .
The company is also highlighting the Synapse NIO440 card , which is an eight-channel bidirectional Ethernet / SDI bridge from 3G / HD-SDI to uncompressed Ethernet video transport and decentralised routing . Operators can employ NIO440 to establish a point-to-point video / audio / data connection using fibre-optic cables or SMPTE camera cables to provide point to multi-point routing and distribution using IT switches .
The card is currently compatible with both AVB / TSN and SMPTE 2022 standards . Other standards such as VSF TR-03 and TR-04 , as well as SMPTE 2059 , will also be supported via future software upgrades , says Axon .

Cobalt Digital is introducing a new system that combines frameaccurate SCTE 104 trigger ( FAST ) insertion with enhanced HLS SCTE 35 streaming on a single platform . Built for both openGear frames and Cobalt BBG-1100 Series standalone units , the FAST-Stream system is a solution designed to provide HLS streams with frame-accurate boundary points complete with the SCTE 35 metadata contained in the associated manifest file . Applications range from on-the-fly C3 video-on-demand ( VoD ) contribution to embedded digital rights management ( DRM ) for distributing protected content .
The FAST-STREAM OTT system interfaces with automation and uses timestamps to insert metadata frame-accurately into baseband SDI . It then performs high-quality H . 264 encoding designed to meet streaming delivery requirements in real time .
