Resident of the Month,
Mildred Delk
Mildred Delk
was born May 7,
1922, in a one-room,
log house by the
Richwood Country
School in Clever,
Mo., to parents
Floyd and Jane Wil-
son. She attended
Richwood School
through the eighth
grade.
Mildred worked in the lingerie depart-
ment of the Dixie Shop in Springfield where
she dressed the manikins for the stores That
is where she met Bobby Delk. It was love at
first sight and they were married shortly
thereafter on Nov. 10, 1945. They lived in
Springfield for a while until they moved to
the farm in Everton, Mo. They eventually
built a home in the west part of Everton.
Together, they have three children, Benny
Delk of Kansas City, Dennis and Robbie
Delk of Greenfield, Mo., and Roger and
Bonnie Delk of Everton. Mildred has three
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mildred and Bobby celebrated 60 years to-
gether until Bobby passed away in 2005.
Mildred attended Liberty Baptist and
Everton Baptist Churches. She likes spend-
ing time at her home and you might have
seen her out in her yard doing lawn work,
growing flowers, and working in the poul-
try barn where they raised chickens.
Mildred’s hobbies include quilting,
games, word search, listening to country
and gospel music, and playing card games.
Her favorite food is homemade, hot rolls!
Her best friend was Ida Mae Hensley. Mil-
dred’s motto is: “To witness to someone
about the Lord.” She loves to visit with her
friends and family.
Mildred tells the story of the time when
it was snowing and Bobby had gone to
work and they were expecting a cow to
calve. Mildred was to keep watch and bring
the calf inside to keep warm. That day
there were four new calves born so Mildred
got all four of them into the house and got
them warmed up until Bobby got home and
told her they had to get those calves back
out to their mamas so they would claim
them. What a time that was in the life of a
farm wife!
Mildred will be having her 95th birth-
day on May 7. Happy Birthday Mildred! A
card shower would be appreciated.
Congratulations Mildred, for being cho-
sen as Ash Grove Healthcare Facility’s
