Resident of the Month,
Martha “Kat” McGee
Martha Kathleen “Kat” McGee was born on
February 10, 1923, to parents Logie and Arby Davis
of Clever, Mo. She and her two other siblings attended
school in Billings where she was involved in basketball and softball, until she graduated in 1940.
After graduation, Kathleen met and married
Glenn Rauch. Together they had five children: Jerry,
Glenda, Mike, Phyllis, and Bill. Sadly, in 1976, Glenn
passed away. Eventually, Kathleen decided to remarry, this time to Joe McGee. Over the years, the
couple have been blessed with seven grandchildren
and one great-grandson. Joe and Kathleen made their
home in the Everton and Dadeville area, where they
worked on the family farm. Kathleen was a homemaker and would also help care for the yard and tend
to her garden. Kathleen has always enjoy music and
dancing. Her passion for dance and music lead Kathleen
and Joe to turn an old farm house into a community
house, where they would hold square dances, jigs,
polka’s and card games.
Kathleen worked for Dayco for 20 years in the
dietary and cleaning department. In her spare time,
Kathleen stayed busy by being involved in various
activities. She is a member of the Milk and Shorthorn
Society, a leader in the Junior Farmers Association
(JFA), a member of the Women’s Farmer’s Association (WFA), and the Eastern Star Group and numerous church groups.
She enjoys horseback riding, playing bingo,
checkers, dominoes, cards and she likes cats. She
enjoys crocheting, making ceramic pieces and collecting depression glass dishes. She enjoys to listen to all
types of music, especially country, gospel, and bluegrass music.
Kathleen’s motto for life is “You should learn to
