Resident of the Month,
Georgia Mitchell was born in a small
town near Harrisonville, Mo., to Charles
and Clara Kugaric Hudson. She has four
sisters. Mary Alice Lee, Dorothy Shirk,
Alberta Lee and Effie Yeates. Dorothy also
had two brothers, who passed at birth.
Sadly, when Georgia was 8, her mother
passed away. At that time, she and her siblings went to the Catholic Orphanage.
There she learned many valuable life skills.
Georgia attended East Linn school through
the eighth grade.
On Sept. 30 1939, Georgia married Arthur
Hodson. The couple was blessed with four
children: Clifford, Larry, Martina and
Charles. The couple lived in Walnut Grove
until 1961, when Arthur passed away.
Then, on June 17, 1965, Georgia remarried, this time to Kenneth Mitchell. Georgia and Kenneth lived in Springfield until
1981.
Georgia has been blessed six grandchildren
and four great grandchildren. While at home,
Georgia was a housewife and mother. She
also worked at the Colonial Hotel, American
Bag Co., Selmar Ferris Laundry and as a
restaurant cook. In her free time she enjoyed
working in her garden and raising flowers,
reading, doing embroidery and making quilts.
As a child, Georgia was raised and baptized
in the Catholic faith. In recent years, she
has attended the Walnut Grove Christian
Church and now the St. Joseph’s Catholic
Church .
Georgia likes to work word puzzles,
watch TV and visit friends and family.
She is also an avid doll collector.
Georgia’s life motto is to “pray a lot.”
Georgia has been part of the Ash Grove
Healthcare Facility family since December 2014. She loves living here with her
friends. Congratulations on being chosen
as Ash Grove Healthcare Facility’s Resident of the Month for August!
