Miles to Go Before You Sleep
The San Diego Convention Center’s 7 contiguous exhibit halls cover 525,701 square feet.
That’s about 9 football fields’ worth of space, and enough room to park 11,623 Smart Cars
side-by-side and end-to-end.
That’s a lot of ground to cover, and for anyone trying to break FitBit records, there also will
be treadmills available in the remote session viewing lounge in ASH Central so you can keep
moving without missing the meeting!
An Abstract Idea
On November 3, what The Street’s Adam Feuerstein lovingly
refers to as “The Great ASH16 Abstract Drop” unleashed 5,998
accepted abstracts on the world, including 4,805 abstracts
that will be presented at the meeting:
• 6 Plenary
• 1,236 Oral
• 3,557 Posters
• 6 Late-Breaking
and 1,193 abstracts that will be published online in Blood.
Did you wait until the last possible moments to finalize your
abstract submission? Don’t feel guilty, most of your colleagues
did the same thing. Of the 6,658 abstracts submitted to the
ASH annual meeting this year, 3,501 abstracts were completed
on the last day of the submission period. Startlingly, 2,230
abstract submissions were just started on the last day!
We’ll Keep the Light on For You
Thousands of hematologists and health-care professionals are expected to visit San Diego for the ASH
annual meeting, and they’ll all need a place to stay.
Meeting organizers have

Take a Seat – or Several!
And when you need to take a load off, there’s no need to play musical chairs
with your fellow hematologists. There’s plenty of room for everyone, with:
blocked for attendees this year, with
17,975 rooms
reserved on each peak night.
23,489 CHAIRS
in the session rooms at the convention center.
12,188 CHAIRS
in the session rooms at hotels.
