Introducing ASH-a-Palooza! Pulling Back the Curtain on #ASH18
At the 2018 ASH Annual Meeting, the “Trainee Day” that attendees
knew from past annual meetings was reimagined as ASH-a-Palooza
– a new educational experience that offered a relaxed, open learning
environment for trainees in a festival-like setting with multiple
opportunities for micro-learning. Attendees captured the experience
on Twitter: In the days before the meeting, the organizers gave us a look at all the work that
goes into transforming an empty convention center into the ASH Annual Meeting
& Exposition:

Take a look at our general session

longer than a (American-style) football

Clinician Well-Being and the ASH Whiteboard Wall
High fASHion
Loyal readers of ASH Clinical News have witnessed the escalating
“Ribbon Wars” between Joseph Mikhael, MD, MEd (@jmikhaelmd),
and ASH Clinical News Editor-in-Chief Mikkael A. Sekeres, MD, MS
(@MikkaelSekeres), but they seem to have put aside their rivalry at
the 2018 annual meeting.

Is this the

This year, annual meeting organizers continued the ASH Whiteboard Wall tradition,
asking annual meeting attendees, “What keeps YOUR heart in medicine?” Graphic
artists then illustrated the answers on a giant whiteboard on display in the San Diego
Convention Center.
ASH also partnered with the National Academy of Medicine to present the
“Expressions of Clinical Well-Being” project, which called on artists to express what
clinician burnout and clinician resilience and well-being looks, sounds, and feels like to
them. The purpose of the project is to promote greater awareness and understanding of
barriers to clinician well-being. Below are some images from attendees.

Enjoyed viewing the @ASH_hematology
Clinical Well-Being wall at meeting this
year. Thanks to all who took a moment
to create this collective collage &
provided a little piece of their time, a little
piece of their humanity & a little piece of
their creativity
