With such dynamic parents , it is not surprising that Prince Fahad , despite his work with SASET , is currently in his final year at Princeton University . He previously graduated from Eton College in England . Like his fellow old- Etonians , Prince William and Prince Harry , he clearly takes his role and position seriously .

SASET has also made its mark through its involvement with the Turtle Conservation Sanctuary in Pulau Tioman . The Pahang Royal Family has long supported this conservation effort and it was Prince Fahad ' s first adopted charity . Other SASET projects i n c l u d e A d o p t a V i l l a g e , Temenggong Rangers , SASET One Youth , Pahang Greening Program and Go Green with SASET . Each initiative shares the common thread of Prince Fahad ' s expressed views on change and innovation in the region .
" It has to be a collaboration of top down and bottom up ," he says with a wry smile . " There is incredible local knowledge to be harnessed and collaborated with . No one wants to live with pollution or watch their back garden turn to a wasteland , so the motivation is clearly there . A strong sense of community and social welfare goes hand in hand with all the work that SASET is doing ."
SASET works closely with the state government of Pahang and collaborates with corporations and institutions such as Berjaya Group B e r h a d a n d L i m k o k w i n g University of Creative Technology , which has brought much expertise and insight to many SASET projects . " By partnering with existing successful initiatives such as 1M4U , Malaysia ' s Leading Youth Volunteer Community , SASET is aiming to reach a sweet spot between external and internal stakeholders ," and Prince Fahad ' s p e r s o n a l p e t p r o j e c t , t h e Temenggong Rangers embodies this philosophy perfectly . Here , environmental custodians are appointed , each with a specific zone within Pahang , where they develop protection , training , information and recruitment programs pertinent to local environmental threats or challenges . The Temenggong Rangers also act as front line observers to prevent criminal activities such as illegal logging and refuse disposal .

Challenges to Change
As with any innovative vision though , however well intentioned , bumps in the road are inevitable .
“ I suppose the biggest issue is the balance between long and short term gains ," the Prince says . " All over the world , environmental issues often require short term costs and even the reduction of short term gains , in order to develop more sustainable long term practices , and this requires both vision and discipline ." He goes on to add , " Our calling is one which requires perseverance and a certain amount of tenacity . Not everyone realizes that environmental preservation , conservation and protection are critical to life . So it is our duty and responsibility to promote this patiently and assertively ."
