Song/Album: Damn this is hard. The Stooges
Fun House and Keith Jarrett Koln Concert. The
Stooges because they ARE dirty, primitive rock n
roll, and Keith Jarrett because it’s so beautiful.
Oh, I just remembered Arvo Part too. Pop him in.
Concert: Iggy Pop. Iggy and the Stooges. The
Clash. Birthday Party. Nick Cave. And a Tim
Rogers cover band, where they played the Rolling
Stones 1973 Kooyong gig, track for track. It was
beyond.
Painting: I’m a big fan of Blue Poles, you can
stare into it forever and the poles dance. There’s
another painting of a woman picking potatoes at
the NGV. I find it highly erotic. In fact, I find art
galleries highly erotic actually. There are just too
many paintings I love. It’s like asking “what’s
your favourite snowflake?”

Australian actor, writer and entertainer
in a wide variety of genres. He currently
appears in House Husbands on the Nine
Network.
Book: The Bible. I’ll go with that, because there
are too many to count. I also love all the Russians,
particularly Dostoyevsky. I’m rather fond of
Bukowski too.
Film: Trainspotting is a favourite. It’s a great
example of a palimpsest of a book. The film
changed it completely, but was true to it as well.
Also, every Kubrick film, even Eyes Wide Shut.
Oh and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Oh
and Django Unchained. Ok, I’ll stop now.
TV show: Deadwood. Nothing further to add.
Play: Decadence by Steven Berkoff. Mainly
because I was in it and loved its savagery. There
are a bunch of Shakespeare’s too, but that came to
mind first.
Poem: The Shoelace by Charles Bukowski. I’m a
big fan of William Blake too.
Quote: “Perfect is the Enemy of Good” Voltaire. I named my album that (no plug
intended).
Musical: Singin' in the Rain. I’ve only seen the
film, but I love what the critic Halliwell called
Gene Kelly’s “proletariat grace”. Gene Kelly
always seems to dance from a place of joy and
generosity.
