Zoë MacDonell Liquidlight Zoë MacDonell‟s practice spans across various mediums of drawing, painting and textiles. She was born in England, and lived in Africa and America before settling in Australia in 1993. Zoë has exhibited her work across Australia and internationally. “This work consists of fused layers of transparent silks and paper that then become a canvas for me to draw and paint onto. The textures and forms are inspired by intimate landscape details in addition to mapping and aerial topography. The imagery is suggestive of dark water, both moving and still; of objects caught in its flow and the reflections that play on its surface. This liquid oscillates between areas of fluidity and stagnation. My own interpretations of reality have merged with my imagination through the creative process. I am interested in how the physical landscape can mirror and affect the personal landscape. In this sense I examine the relationship that we have to our environment. I question the nature of reality and the layered perceptions of that reality. These works seek to capture a frozen moment in time.” www.zoemacdonell.com
