8. Teixeira Lopes House Museum/ Diogo de Macedo Galleries You can visit the house and atelier of one of the biggest Portuguese sculptors of all times: António Teixeira Lopes (1866-1942). Address: Rua Teixeira Lopes, 32, Vila Nova de Gaia 9. Barbot House of Culture This building is considered a one of a kind example of Art Nouveau in Vila Nova de Gaia. It has an area where exhibitions and several events, such as debates and workshops, take place. Address: Avenida da República, 590, Santa Marinha, Vila Nova de Gaia Opening times: Monday to Friday, from 9am to 8pm; Saturday, from 3pm to 7pm 10. Santa Marinha Church Built in the 15th century and renovated in 1745, by Nicolau Nasoni. When inside, a gilded woodcarving altar with 18th century paintings stands out. Biological Park – Gaia It’s an environmental education equipment with an exploration route that includes the Febros River and various animals. It also has a bar/restaurant and a motorhome area. Coast Station – Aguda This station is placed in Aguda, a small fishing village in the Portuguese north Atlantic coast. Local Nature Reserve of Douro Estuary This reserve begins at the southern stream of Douro River (Afurada) and ends at Cabedelo area. It’s precisely in this last area that the biggest amount of birds can be founded. 10
