Cinema and literature ( and nowadays , also music and Internet ) are the means that make us dream of ( and to travel mentally ) new worlds , expanding our horizons beyond the visible world of day-to-day life and signalling those dream places we should / want to visit as tourists . No wonder why the media are considered to be a powerful tool used in tourism promotion and destination branding .
To put together professionals from cinema and tourism at the same event , and reward the excellence of tourism films , encapsulates the great merit of the ART & - TUR Film Festival . The present edition of ART & TUR Film Festival , as the previous ones , has contributed indelibly to improve tourism promotion quality , to highlight and dignify the best tourism film productions , to create appropriate contexts to encourage the sharing of experiences and mutual understanding between professionals from both sectors , and also to give international visibility to innovative projects , giving new worlds to the world of tourism . For those not too familiar with the ART & TUR Film Festival , some of the following figures that mark this unique event will be , for sure , amazing :
• The International Jury consists of 21 experts from 13 countries from three different continents : Germany , Brazil , Chile , South Korea , Spain , France , Holland , India , Iran , Japan , Poland , Portugal and Taiwan .
• The Grand Prix ART & TUR ’ 16 competition entered 301 films coming from 52 countries .
• The Awards Ceremony attracts to Vila Nova de Gaia about two hundred people from more than 30 countries , including ambassadors , journalists , film producers , film directors and tourism researchers , as well as mayors and representatives of national and regional tourism entities .
These are just some of the reasons that make this edition of the ART & TUR E-Magazine a never to be forgotten event for all professionals involved in the tourism film industry .
