swing, the Chazen is
gearing up for a busy
season of exhibitions and
programming. Summer
Spin returns on Thursday,
June 6th, 3– 6 p.m., and
will take place every week
at the same time through the end of August. I
hope you and your family will join us for this
popular (and free!) drop-in program of hands-on
art activities for all ages. Turn to page 6 for a

Throughout the twenty years I’ve spent in
museums, I’ve always treasured the opportunity
to visit artists where they work. Studio visits offer
an intimate view into an artist’s process that
simply can’t be divined from a finished work on a
gallery wall. In the Studio, open June 1st in the
Rowland Galleries, is curated almost exclusively
from artworks in the permanent collection and
was inspired by my visits with artists. I’ve chosen
these works to offer a glimpse into the studio
practice of artists from across genres and I hope
