I hope everyone had a wonderful celebration with their families and friends last month. I know mine was very enjoyable. I enjoyed lots of laughs, great food, and a wonderful time with those I love. Typically this time of year is cold with snow, sleet, ice, rain or any combination of these. Thinking of this weather brings to mind warm drinks and snuggling under a warm blanket with a great book or an excellent movie. So to assist others in staying warm on the inside when we do get the cold weather, I decided on hot drink recipes for this issue of the Guild Magazine. I hope you all enjoy them and that they keep your tummy warm in the cold days to come. Hot Spiced Cider Mix is the first recipe I have decided to use in this issue. I fondly remember my mother making this for my brothers and I as children, so it has good memories associated with it. This recipe comes from the Recipes From Around An Old Fort Cookbook that so many of us have in our homes. It is in the back in the beverages section. It was submitted by Mrs. Charles T. Shelton (Lilyan). 1 cup Tang ½ t. ground cloves ¾ cup sugar ½ t. cinnamon ½ cup instant unsweetened tea ¼ t. ground allspice 1 small package lemonade mix Mix all ingredients together and use 2 to 3 rounded teaspoons per 1 cup boiling water.
