Influenced by the Mexican art of holly diorama boxes along with Joseph Cornell's art, animATheca was born. It is a project-shrine, portraying people who have been passed away and have been worshiped a lot. Glassified photos, glittered flowers, pearls, shiny textiles, flashy auras, colored feathers, quaint found objects, all together compose an animATheca diorama box.

The artist, Thodoros Brouskomatis, is an architect from Greece who for the last 8 years "works" as an artist. A strong believer of the Bauhaus movement, Brouskomatis approaches art more as a "worker" rather than an estet. As for the artistic style of the animATheca diorama boxes, this could be classified as a post-kitsch pop art. It's a style influenced among others by Jeff Koons and Gilbert & George.

Thodoros Brouskomatis lives and works in Athens.
