Why subwaydoodle?
I doodle on the subway.
How did the subway series begin?
I started drawing on the subway in 2011 when I bought my first
iPad. I drew during my commute just to pass the time. One day
I took a picture with my iPad on the train and drew over the
picture. It was fun so I did another. And another. And another.
Subway Doodle evolved from there.
Your work has a very unique outline ,what is the inspira-
tion behind it?
I have always envied artists who could draw clean lines. I can’t.
My hand trembles. It took me years to accept the shaky lines as
part of my style. And drawing on a moving subway doesn’t help
either!
Most of your characters are blue is there a specific rea-
son for that?
I don’t want my creatures to be interpreted as a criticism or
representation of any particular race or nationality. My doodles
reflect the universal truths of all humans.
