En Colombie, il y a une vie culturelle et artistique très importante (peinture, sculpture, théâtre, musique, poésie, danse…) et la danse en particulier fait partie des habitudes du pays. Cristina Olivares est issue d’une famille où la musique était très présente : on y jouait de la guitare, du tiple, et de l’harmonica , et comme le font beaucoup de colombiens on dansait le week-end et notamment pendant « las novenas de Aguinaldos », ce sont des occasions de se retrouver en famille et entre amis pour réciter la neuvaine de l’enfant Jésus, manger et danser, avant Noël.
Parmi les figures artistiques colombiennes, Cristina préfère le peintre et sculpteur Fernando Botero, le musicien Maestro Puyana, et l’écrivain Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
In Columbia, culture and the arts (including painting, sculpture, theater, music, poetry and dance) play a very important role, and dance is particularly a strong part of the country’s customs. Cristina Olivares comes from a family that has a very strong musical background, and they would play instruments such as the guitar, the tiple, and the harmonica. Like many other Columbians, they would dance on the weekends, especially during the “las novenas de Aguinaldos,” which are special occasions when friends and family get together before Christmas to recite the novena of baby Jesus, eat and dance.
Among Cristina’s favorite Columbian artistic figures include the painter and sculptor Fernando Botero, the musician Maestro Puyana, and the writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
Born and raised in Columbia, Cristina Olivares is an Artist at heart.
