years in Israel, I`m still watching on jewish
history and religion from a distance, because
I haven`t absorbed it with my mother`s milk.
And this is why I`m feeling free to discuss all
this issues, to give my own interpretation to
prescribed rules and to show it in my art in
my own way. This is a kind of alienation, but
a freedom also.
Actually we have here 2 aspects – my
background as an interior architect and my
cultural background as a russian repatriant to
Israel that is much more important, I think.
I`ll begin from the second one (“Begin at the
beginning”– as it`s said in Alice in
Wonderland ) -I was born in Russia, and
though my parents were jewish, we had
nothing in common with jewish traditions and
I knew nothing about religion or jewish
culture. Actually we were one step from
being assimilated. This is why now, after 25

was a kind of compromise between my own
desires and between the reality as my
