strength and durability, which harder
woods offer. Figured, spaulted wood is by
far most intriguing to me. While most
people might view a decaying log with
the idea of turning rotten, any
experienced wood worker or a wood
artists can appreciate the magic that
turn one "plain" log into a natural
stunning work of art. This decaying
process, which accures usually in wet or
damp environments, slowly colors the
wood with detailed, exciting designs. As
long as the wood maintains its durable
strength, it offers an outstanding canvas
to any woodworker or wood artist. Fruit
trees such as apple, peach, olive, carob,
nut trees and so on, are my top choice
other than figured, spaulted wood.
I am not sure how the minds of other
artists operate. My mind sees everything
in vibrant colors. Each color is associated
with an energy. I wake up in the morning
with visions of usually one dominant
color. It is reflected in most everything I
do; the way I dress, layering my clothes
with shades of that specific color, or it is
the dominant color of choice when I
draw. Even when I cook in my kitchen
colors play a role. The more colorful my
dish is, the richer the cooking and eating
