" Jerusalmix " is the name of the group of painters that Hedi Tarja and Anatoly Basin have formed , and I have participated in it for many years . Hedi Tarja found the term " figurative-abstract " to describe our ways of painting . I think that even in abstraction , the figurative form still exists . For me , the opening is to stay awake before the canvas until she starts to talk to me . My dialogue with her is to give her life , as Picasso said : " I am trying to make the painting alive ."
I have , since my young years , reflected on the relations of ethics and aesthetics , without wanting to choose . My subjects always revolve around the mother , the woman , the female body , from which we are born , from the strange relation which shapes us in this early childhood , with the woman who treats us and who loves us . Thinking thus , I never leave the tradition of painting , the one that has taken a position to make the body appear , in the representations of the Madonna , with or without children , who have transformed , with the retreat of belief , into nudes or in portraits .
