art to preserve its self in all its glory.
Heltah Skeltah 2 and 3 are very textured
in their background but the vibrancy of
their colours and their similarities in their
brush strokes and style make for a
perfect diptych.
There is certainly an element of influence
from my psychological place of mind at
the time the painting is produced. A Maze
was produced at a time in my life where it
was slightly chaotic and therefore
producing a piece that was precise and
organised gave me a sense of order.
Rough was one of my first pieces that I
created and at the time I wanted to
experiment with textures more than
colour. I realised then that it wasn’t
always about the colour and vibrancy of a
painting that draws people to it.
Sometimes the simplicity of a painting
can be seen as complicated to others. It’s
interesting to see what type of people are
drawn to certain styles and colours.
Yes, I love Picasso. His diversity of
painting was way ahead of his time. The
