Artist’s statement
Growing up in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County I
always painted and made things. I did not always get good grades
in art in the Los Angeles Public Schools. Some of my art teachers
also worked in the entertainment industry and one, who painted
the “Sock-It-To-Me-Girls”—like Goldie Hawn—for the TV show
Laugh-In, didn’t think I showed much promise. I loved my weekend
art classes at the County Museum, as LACMA (Los Angeles County
Museum of Art) was referred to then.
Like many children I painted with watercolors, but unlike most I kept
at it with my undergraduate degree in painting. For YHZ[
