T
ortilla Union first caught
my eye at the 2017 Restau-
rant Wars, where they took
home the grand prize trophy
in the “Veggie Rations” cat-
egory. Their unique (and ab-
solutely delicious) “Smoked
Watermelon Salad” blew its
competition out of the water.
It’s time for all other salads
to step aside, because there
is a new sheriff in town.
Tortilla Union is located at
River Park Square, and they
are serving up Southwest-
ern-inspired favorites starting
with smoky, cheesy campfire
cornbread and ending with
ancho-agave crème brûlée!
Don’t worry; they also have
the classic favorites like chips
and guacamole, barbacoa
enchiladas, tacos, burritos —
even mac and cheese!
Speaking of tacos, you can
enjoy their street tacos for
only two dollars all day,
every Thursday, plus during
Social Hour (2-6pm) every
other day of the week. Mix
and match from your choice
of barbacao, carne asada,
verde chicken, fried shrimp,
Baja fish or fried avocado
tacos, served on corn tortillas
with shaved cabbage, pickled
red onion, cilantro, and
finished with cilantro-lime
emulsion and cotija cheese.
Complete your meal with one
of Tortilla Union’s margarita
or beer specials (prickly pear
margarita, anyone?).
