T
he control room could actually
be regarded as the “mission control”
center of the studio world, and indeed
may somewhat resemble NASA,
but with far more comfortable
appointments, including plush couches
and serene mood lighting. This room
is where every sound created in the
live studio and surrounding isolation
booths arrives, ready to be transformed
into the highly-polished musical pièce
de résistance for which Amplified Wax
is well-recognized and in which they
truly excel!
This zone is where senior producer,
audio engineer, sound designer,
arranger and musician Jimmy Hill
waves his digital magic wand, or rather,
assumes control of a dazzling array
of sophisticated audio mixers, sound
processors and special effects units.
Here he is able to capture, “massage”,
fine tune, enhance and balance all of
the component parts into a perfectly
produced and mastered musical
creation worthy of any radio, TV
broadcast, CD or digital reproduction.
This control room is always a firm
favorite for recording artists who feel
richly rewarded by hearing their hard
work being faithfully played back to
them through the sonically accurate and
perfectly tuned monitor loudspeakers.
I personally had the immense
pleasure of auditioning the clarity and
musicality of this impressive speaker
array when I was treated to a variety
of superbly recorded and produced
musical projects. They covered a wide
range of styles and genres ranging from
powerful electronic rock originals, to
delicate acoustic folk ensembles, to
hip hop and alternative, and even a
large high school marimba band whose
numerous large instruments almost
completely occupied the spacious live
studio area!
