SING, DANCE AND THRIVE
By Dean Cameron
In the year 2001, my late wife Seleina and
I embarked on a project that sought to help
uplift the lives of many Maasai village
folks, through something that they already
had but not yet used to enhance their
lives—song and dance!
We were living amongst them and knew
just how far little girls had to walk to go
and fetch water for the families. Girls who
should have been in school! Many suffered
from illness, skin, and eye diseases, brought
about by dusty floors in their houses.
Others would fall prey to early unwanted
pregnancy.
We visited many homes, seeking to find
and identify good soloists, while paying
attention to their needs and getting to know
them and their families personally.
