Art Chowder: When you’re at home, what do you do to find inspiration? Linda: Walk the cats. Scratch and Cinder enjoy going for a walk. At least twice a day it gives me a chance to watch them interact with the outdoors (safely with us along) and time for me to slow down, stretch my legs, and really look at my surroundings in all kinds of weather. Art Chowder: Please name a few of your favor- ite artists — living or dead. Linda: One of my favorite deceased artists is Lord Frederic Leighton, along with many early to mid 19th century British painters. Art Chowder: If the artist named above sud- denly dropped by, what would you do? What would you want to share with him? Linda: I’d like to go for a walk with them in the woods and ask them what they see. They’d point out the light and shadows with their unique artistic perspective and give me a new way to look at the familiar. I’d like to share a painting from three or four years ago, a piece from last year, and several of my current paintings to get their take on my work and growth as an artist. Art Chowder: Do you have any advice for artists just starting out? Linda: This is not an easy profession but it is a rewarding one.
