Art Chowder: Sounds like you’ve found
your Fountain of Youth. What advice
would you give to young people today?
"Lichen-ness"
GINGER: My grandchildren have a
wonderful sense of humanity, so I see
them as a good example for me. I think
they have already learned that you must
be flexible in life. You have to learn to
love what’s right there in front of you,
and just keep doing the best you can.
Keep creating and be honest in your
life. If we are authentic in the way we
live our lives and love each other, then
we’re going to create art that will be
appreciated.
Art Chowder: Agreed. So, Ginger, where
can our readers find your sculptures?
GINGER: I have a small body of work at
the new Tsuga Gallery on South Perry;
The New Moon Gallery on Sprague;
The Magic Craftsman in Green Acres;
Hawaii, and in many private collections
across the country.
Everything I make takes much longer
than most people realize. They are one-
of-a-kind pieces, so they find one-of-
a-kind homes and are adopted quickly
when finished. I don’t have a lot of
inventory but I love to create for shows.
Art Chowder: Is there a place where our
readers can find you online?
GINGER: My website goartstudio.com
is being re-designed and I have two
Facebook pages: GO Art Studio/Ginger
Oakes Ceramic Sculpture and GO Art
Center LLC.

I hope everyone likes and follows my
pages, for it’s a connection I really
enjoy.
