Tell us about that, please. Katrina: I’ve been teaching art classes for kids. It’s been very rewarding but recently I asked one of the little girls that goes to a public school if she got to do art once a week and she said, “No.” So I asked her if she gets to do art in the classroom. Again she said, “No,” then added, “but sometimes we get to draw posters and things for science.” I’m not sure if she understood completely, but if that’s true it’s sad. We need art in school. The kids need it. Agreed. I’m so glad you are helping the kids at the center! Katrina: Yeah, thanks. I’m not sure how long it’s going to last though. It’s all based on donations and when we first started there were no supplies beyond some donated paint, paper, and pencils — nowhere near enough. They really didn’t have much beyond that. 12 ART CHOWDER MAGAZINE
