Spokane Arts Awards Saturday, September 29, 7 p.m. Montvale Event Center 1017 W 1st Ave, Spokane, WA www.spokanearts.org 56 ART CHOWDER MAGAZINE N ominations are now open for the annual Spokane Arts Awards, which recognize the accomplishments of artists, arts and cultural organizations and local individuals committed to enriching the community through the arts. Nominations can be submitted online at spokanearts.submittable.com, using a brief form that asks the nominator to describe why the person or group is worthy of an award in a particular category. “We make it as simple as possible to submit nominations,” said Melissa Huggins, executive director of Spokane Arts, the nonprofit arts organization that organizes the Arts Awards and promotes October Arts Month. “It’s a generous act to nominate a peer for an award,” she said. “It may only take fifteen minutes out of your day, but it provides a boost of encouragement, a reminder that people’s hard work is not going unrecognized.”
