Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy:
Kendall Deitch
Kendall Deitch, 16, of Highland
Park High School, was recently
honored by the Dallas Chapter
of the Association of Fundraising
Professionals as one of our
region’s outstanding Youth
in Philanthropy. This comes
after Kendall launched a new
community service project — Big
Sister’s Closet — that connects
fifth grade girls preparing to
graduate from L.L. Hotchkiss
Elementary School with gently
used clothing.
Kendall chose to support L.L.
Hotchkiss Elementary because her
family sponsors the North Texas
Food Bank’s Food 4 Kids Backpack
Program, which provides
chronically hungry children with
backpacks full of nutritious, kidfriendly food to last through the
weekend. Thank you, Kendall —
and the entire Deitch family — for
your hard work and generosity on
behalf of our hungry neighbors!
Plano Leaders are
Fighting Hunger
Plano Mayor Harry LaRosiliere is
partnering with the North Texas
Food Bank to address childhood
hunger in Plano by expanding
the Food 4 Kids program into
all Plano Independent School
District elementary and early
childhood schools. Through this
partnership, students receive a
weekend backpack filled with
kid-friendly, shelf-stable foods,
as well as boxes filled with food
they and their families can enjoy
during the extended school
breaks. Together the North
Texas Food Bank and the Plano
community hope to eradicate
childhood hunger in Plano. To
