This past November , the North Texas Food Bank recognized top volunteers at its annual Golden Fork Award ceremony . The awards are presented each year to individuals , foundations and corporations that have exemplified commitment and dedication to hunger relief in North Texas .
Our Golden Fork winners , past and present , form a dynamic partnership with the Food Bank to ensure the needs of hungry children , families , and seniors in North Texas are met . We thank and congratulate our 9th annual Golden Fork winners for all that they contribute to the field of hunger relief !
Today , our population continues to grow , and so does the need for critical meals . Jan ’ s visionary leadership drove the Food Bank to look for innovative and collaborative ways to solve the problem of hunger in our community . As a result , she set into motion the plans to close the current meal gap in North Texas by 2025 .
As part of the Food Bank ’ s 10- year strategic plan to provide access to 92 million nutritious meals annually , the North Texas Food Bank is expanding its footprint with the recently acquired Administration Building at the Dallas Farmers Market and with a brand new distribution center in Plano .
These moves are part of a broader effort to increase engagement with volunteers , supporters and the community , to improve our distribution process and to better understand who our clients are and how they use the Food Bank ’ s services .
These improvements are being funded by the Stop Hunger Build Hope capital campaign . This campaign — which has set the very ambitious goal of raising $ 55 million — is the largest for any social service organization in North Texas ! Your support is greatly needed as we work to make this plan a reality !
Together we can , and we must , honor Jan ’ s passionate pursuit of a hunger-free North Texas .
