Your Support of Stop Hunger, Build Hope Is Already Making a Big Impact! As we approach the $50 million mark in our $55-million Stop Hunger, Build Hope capital campaign, we could not be more thankful for the caring support of the community! The generous support of friends like you is already being put to good use here in North Texas. Mobile Pantry Program Through this campaign, two specially designed mobile pantry trucks are helping our neighbors in high-need, hard-to-reach areas enroll in SNAP and access fresh produce and other nutritious groceries. Residents of apartment complexes, housing units and senior centers who don’t live near traditional food pantries are benefitting from this program — including people like Rachel*. Rachel’s raising her three children on her own. She works hard to provide for their needs — and her income is just a little too high to qualify for SNAP assistance. finances have been so compromised that she recently had to search her home for spare change just to be able to afford a jug of milk. That’s why she’s so glad a North Texas Food Bank mobile pantry truck stops by a site near her home. The truck distributes all kinds of healthy fruits and vegetables right to her neighborhood. And it comes on a Saturday, which means she doesn’t have to miss work to ensure her family can eat regular meals. *Name has been changed to protect identity Learn more about the amazing work Stop Hunger Build Hope is funding at ntfb.org/stophunger! But Rachel recently faced a serious health concern that left her with large medical expenses. Her Leave a Lasting Legacy It’s surprising but true: Less than half of all Americans have a current will, even though it’s one of the most important documents a person can own. Planning a will provides for your family’s financial security, plus, it gives you a chance to leave behind the kind of legacy you want to be known for. Whether you have a current will or are just getting started, have you considered including the charitable organizations that matter most to you — like the North Texas Food bank — by naming them as beneficiaries? A bequest in your will can be restricted or unrestricted. Unrestricted bequests are especially valuable because the funds donated can be used where they’re most needed. Sample unrestricted bequest language reads like this: “I, [name], of [city, state, ZIP] give, devise and bequeath to the North Texas Food Bank [written amount of the estate or description of property] for its unrestricted use and purpose.” Or “I give, devise and bequeath to the North Texas Food Bank for its general purposes __________ percent of my residuary estate.” If you’d like more information about bequests or if you want to talk about other options for including the North Texas Food Bank in your estate plan, please contact Erin Fincher at 214.269.8976 or [email protected].
