Families Are Able to Celebrate
the Holidays, Thanks to You!
Greetings, Friends of the Food Bank!
When I think about the holiday
season, I see it as a time of
reflection. Toward the end of the
year, we tend to think about all
the blessings that have come our
way — and we often share these
thoughts with our family and
friends over a special meal.
I’m looking forward to the nice,
warm setting of my family’s
table — the laughter, the turkey
and all the sides. Unfortunately,
this is something a lot of North
Texans don’t think about.
Instead, many are wondering
where their next meal will come
from.
Because you choose to give,
you’re sharing hope in the
form of nutritious food with
these neighbors. Being able to
sit down to a full holiday meal
is important because it allows
people to celebrate their own
family traditions — and it makes
the holidays a little bit brighter.
In this special holiday edition
of Around the Table, you’ll meet
a few of the families you’re
bringing good cheer to at this
special time of year. On the
following page you’ll meet Paula
and her daughter, Kinisha,
who are benefitting from
your generosity. I hope you’ll
remember that you put those
bright smiles on their faces.
My own mom had seven
siblings, and growing up,
our family’s holiday table
overflowed with my cousins and
me eating on beds, on the floor
— or any other surface we could
find! These memories warm my
heart, and I hope yours do the
same for you. Thank you for
helping ensure our neighbors
are able to celebrate, too!
