Board of Directors Executive Committee Trisha Cunningham President & CEO Ready for Success! Thank you for providing children with fuel to learn. Did you know that right here in North Texas, one in four children may not know where they will get their next meal? These 300,000 hungry children are our neighbors . . . and their struggle can prevent them from succeeding in school this fall. Research from Feeding America shows that children who are hungry are more likely to: • Be sick • Have social and behavioral problems • Suffer developmental delays • Repeat a grade We must give these children every opportunity to succeed in school so they can have a better future! That’s why I’m so grateful for friends like you who join us in our mission to feed hungry children and families in North Texas. Life Board Members Gratefully, Trisha Cunningham President & CEO Page 2 “If it wasn’t for this resource, we wouldn’t eat.” How your generosity rescued one grieving North Texas family. When her husband died of cancer, Mercy didn’t know how she was going to care for her growing boys, Manuel and Johnny. She suffers from epilepsy and is on a fixed disability income. Now on a single income, it’s nearly impossible to cover her bills and purchase enough food for her family. “It’s hard providing for young boys as a single mother,” she admits. Then, a neighbor told Mercy about the pantry at Brother Bill’s Helping Hand, a Partner Agency within NTFB’s feeding network, that is stocked with nutritious food from caring friends like you. “I didn’t know there were places that would help people like me in my situation until I started coming here. They have really picked me up and helped me get back on my feet,” Mercy says. Mercy and her sons pick up healthy foods regularly from the pantry, including eggs, meats and fresh vegetables. The food you provide has been a lifesaver for this deserving family! “If it wasn’t for this resource, we wouldn’t eat. We couldn’t make it,” Mercy says. “It has really helped me as a single mother and helps so many other people like me.” “I thank everyone who helps support Partner Agencies like Brother Bill’s Helping Hand and North Texas Food Bank,” Mercy says. Your continued support of the North Texas Food Bank ensures that families facing hardships, like Mercy and her sons, are not alone. Thank you!
