Because of you, we were able to provide access to almost 72 million nutritious meals for our North Texas neighbors. This year, we’re expecting that number to grow. In fact, it’s already growing. With the recent government shutdown, the requests for help are skyrocketing. That’s why we’re so grateful for your support, which helps us be equipped to provide food in times of crisis. Children, seniors and families in North Texas need our help. And in these later months of winter, seniors living on a fixed income are often faced with the impossible choice of paying for heat or paying for food. Not to mention the ongoing challenge of ensuring that they can purchase both medicine and nutritious food. No one should have to choose Linda knows how to stretch a dollar. Living on a fixed income, she has to. But some months the social security and disability checks she receives simply aren’t enough to cover her expenses. During the colder months, many seniors like her have to decide between paying more to heat their homes or buying food. That’s why Linda is so thankful for the North Texas Food Bank and our Partner Agencies. She also loves how welcoming the staff is when she walks through the door. But all year round, Linda has another dilemma: eat or treat her heart condition. “If I didn’t get this food every two weeks, I would probably not live,” she continues. “I can buy my medicine and have food because of this place.” “It was either do without my medicine or do without food,” she says. She knows the importance of eating fresh and healthy foods to help her heart, but nutritious food can be expensive. “This place helps people who suffer,” Linda says. “I always get emotional when I think about that.” Thank you for making a lifesaving difference for seniors like Linda through your generous support of the Food Bank.
