Housing benefit and council tax support Tell us about changes If you are getting housing benefit and or council tax support you must contact us if there are any changes to your circumstances that may affect your benefit. If you delay telling us you may be paid too much benefit which you will have to pay back, or you may be paid too little. If you are aware of a change that you should have reported earlier, do not delay, do it now to avoid any overpaid benefit from increasing or losing out on any increase you may be entitled to. Any suspicious claims will be referred to the council’s audit and investigation team.
