TAKE PRIDE something good for everyone ’ s benefit .
“ There are council contractors out on the streets trying to deter people from littering and others tracking down fly-tippers , but they can ’ t be everywhere at once and , ideally , we wouldn ’ t need to pay for them at all if those people with anti-social habits changed their behaviour .
“ We have a borough worth looking after , with some beautiful spaces , and it falls to all of us to take care of what we have .
“ The community website Bubble is a great way to get something started . If you ’ ve not done anything like organising a community event before , it can guide you through the whole process .
“ Let ’ s all make a statement and get out there – and love where we live .”
There are plenty of little things you can do every day to keep our area tidy and help us all feel proud of where we live . There are some tips on this page .

IS IT TOO BIG TO SHIFT YOURSELF ?
Do you have an old sofa or fridge or other piece of furniture you cannot move on your own ? Do not pay an unlicensed firm to take it away because it could end up being fly-tipped . The council offers a bulky waste collection service and will collect up to eight items for £ 40 . Residents can share bulky collections with friends and neighbours , but the items must all be collected from one location . See www . ealing . gov . uk / recycling

CLOTHES : HAVING A CLEAR-OUT ?
With sales galore having taken place over the past few months many people have been clearing out their wardrobes to make way for new clothes . But do not throw the old stuff away . Clothes can be recycled ; as can shoes , bags , belts , odd socks and lingerie . It can be left on top of your blue wheelie bin on your next collection day . Just make sure you put them in a clear , secure bag to keep them together and dry , and tie any pairs of shoes together . Recycling left in black rubbish bags will not be collected . Alternatively , there are also many textile collection banks dotted around the borough ( see www . ealing . gov . uk / recycling ), where clothing , blankets and linens can be deposited for recycling . Old tea towels , odd socks , towels and curtains are also accepted . Or , instead of recycling the clothes , you could give them a new life in a different way . Several local charities would gratefully receive your unwanted clothes and textiles – Ealing Soup Kitchen and Acton Homeless Concern are examples .
