MAKING GOOD
PROGRESS
As ever, I am very pleased to be writing an article
for Around Ealing about the notable progress that
Northolt High School continues to make.
H
RH, the Duchess of
Cambridge, visited the
school in February of this
year along with other patrons
of the ‘Art Room’ including Jon Snow,
the Channel Four newsreader. The Art
Room is a national charity that works in
schools to provide art through therapy
and is part of our provision to meet
the range of needs of our students. It
is a fabulous resource available to all
students in all schools in the borough.
The visit by the Duchess marked a
special moment in the journey that the
school has embarked upon towards
becoming an ‘outstanding’ school.

Summer 2014
Student behaviour was described as
’impeccable‘ by the guests who attended
and the letter received from Clarence
House following the visit thanked the
school for the warm welcome that the
Duchess had received.
We continue to work relentlessly to
build on this excellence and we were
very encouraged by a recent Local
Authority Review of the school in
March 2014 which judged 83% of all
lessons seen to be ‘good’ or better.
The response to our request in the
June 2013 edition of ‘Around Ealing’ for
expressions of interest from anybody
who wanted to become a governor in
this school was remarkable. We could
have filled each position twice. Our new
governing body, which came into effect
in January 2014, is already making a
significant contribution towards the
school’s ongoing success.
Our focus continues to be on
ensuring that we offer the very
best educational experience
and outcomes possible for
every single student in the
school. Lessons are engaging,
intellectually challenging and
support students in making
good progress.
At Northolt High School we create
as many opportunities as possible to
develop students’ social skills, character
as well as to give them access to
quality experiences beyond school in
preparation for their future lives.
Students and staff are working very
hard in preparation for the public exams
which begin soon. We anticipate that
the summer results will demonstrate the
real progress that the school has made
over the last couple of years and equip
the students with the qualifications that
they need to compete successfully in
the wider world.
Prospective families are welcome to visit
any time. Please make an appointment
via the school office. Our Open Evening
is Wednesday, 24 September for year 7
entry in September 2015.
