Thank you
for stopping by
The Talk Future Ealing
roadshow visited ward
forums and summer
festivals across the
borough this year.
I
t was an opportunity for hundreds
of local people to talk with the
council’s top team about a range of
issues facing the borough and share
ideas for making the borough better at
a time of reduced government funding.
Council leader Julian Bell said: “We
wanted to make sure as many people
as possible had the opportunity to talk
6
around ealing December 2018
with us and I was pleased to have the
chance to meet people face to face.
“Government cuts are really starting
to bite and there are some very tough
decisions coming up that will impact the
local area. That’s why we wanted to be
up-front with people about the scale of
the council’s financial pressures, share our
ideas on how the council can transform
and listen to residents’ ideas for how they
think we could all work together. We are
really ambitious for the borough but the
scale of the challenge facing us means we
can’t do this alone; we need everyone’s
help. I’d like to thank those who took the
time to stop by and talk to us.”
Visitors to the roadshows were asked
whether they agreed with the council’s
new priorities and if they would be
willing to do something to help their
local area. Four out of every five
respondents agreed the council should
focus on the new priorities and three
out of every five respondents said they
would be willing to give their time to
make the borough better.
Hundreds of visitors also posted ideas
for improving the local area on a board.
In addition, thousands of people also
went online to look at a Talk Future Ealing
‘room’, with many leaving comments.
Turn to page nine for ideas of how you
might get involved to help locally.
In 2019 the council will run public
consultations on any proposed changes
to services. These will be posted online
at www.ealing.gov.uk/consultations
