ADVERTISEMENT FEATURE ALEC REED ACADEMY From Nursery to Post-16 and beyond... The Alec Reed Academy provides all-through education where children can start in the nursery at 3 years old and then stay until they leave at 18. I t is the realisation of its founding sponsor Sir Alec Reed’s determination to provide children with an outstanding education. The academy builds on exactly the same principles: high expectations, doing the simple things right and the belief that all children, regardless of background or ability, can succeed. Thriving primary and secondary schools each have their own specialist facilities situated on the same site. Post-16 caters for all learners covering A-levels and BTEC and has a highly successful Post-16 Football Academy with a programme of top class coaching by UEFA A-licensed coaches (Yannick Bolaise of Crystal Palace is a former student). ALEC REED ACADEMY IS A ‘GOOD SCHOOL’ (OFSTED APRIL 2015) ‘High expectations are the norm. The Academy prepares pupils well for the next stage of their education, whether this is moving from the primary to secondary or moving on from the Sixth Form’ (Ofsted 2015). ‘‘Relationships between teachers and students are excellent. Over the time that pupils attend the Academy they develop into mature young people who are well prepared for the next stage of their lives’ (Ofsted 2015). In addition, the Academy has received national awards for Outstanding Progress (National Collins PiXL 2014) and for Learning Plus 2016 A Level results. In designing the Academy, architects Foster & Partners created a spacious, light and airy environment with modern facilities which include indoor and outdoor sports centres available to both students and the community; and ‘Academy Fields’, a nature area perfect for outdoor learning. Open evenings for each phase: ■ Primary: Thursday, 20 October 9.30–11am ■ Secondary: Tuesday, 20 September 6–8pm, Principal speaking at 6.15pm and 7pm ■ Post-16: Thursday, 13 October 6-8pm, Principal speaking at 6.15pm.
