THRIVING AND FORWARD-LOOKING “I am absolutely delighted to be joining the staff team at Northolt High School as headteacher in September 2016. I can report that following further improvements last academic year, results this summer are set to continue our upward trend. This is why we have been identified by the Department for Education as one of the top 100 non-selective state schools in the country for students’ achievement of 5 or more GCSEs including English and Maths at grades A* - C. Our Sixth Form also continues to thrive with results which are propelling our students into top universities. “Since my appointment in May 2016, I have made many visits to the school. Each time, I have been struck by the positive and friendly attitudes shown by Northolt High students towards their peers, their teachers and their learning. Students at Northolt are fiercely (and justly) proud of their achievements at school. They work respectfully and collaboratively together in lessons and are a joy to meet in the corridors and playgrounds around the school. Visitors often comment on the warmth of their welcome to Northolt High School and this is just one sign of our thriving community. “An exciting part of my headship at Northolt High School will be to oversee our new school building project. Our spacious site means that building work can take place without the need to relocate students to temporary accommodation. I look forward to the excitement of seeing state of the art brand new buildings in construction next academic year, for us to move into during 2018. “Finally, I would like to pay tribute to Gloria Lowe, the outgoing headteacher at Northolt High School. She leaves Northolt to take up headship at another London school, having transformed Northolt High since her arrival in 2012. Under her leadership, academic standards have risen year after year and students’ confidence in themselves and their learning has soared. I know that I am inheriting a thriving, forward looking, successful school which serves its community well and am looking forward to continuing our drive for even more improvements. “I look forward to meeting as many prospective parents as possible at our Open Evening in October 2016.” OPEN EVENING Wednesday, 5 October 5.30–8.30pm Headteacher’s talk at 6.30pm Eastcote Lane, Northolt UB5 4HP around ealing Autumn 2016 21
