GREAT TEACHING AND LEARNING We know from our own experiences what difference teachers make to the progress of the students. That is why staff development is given the highest priority at DWHS. Our extensive training programme is based around the Dormers 9 which gives us a common language about the delivery of great teaching and learning. We hold ‘Leading Edge’ status for the work we do in supporting students who arrive with little or no English, to integrate and achieve well. We also have a provision for students with hearing impairment which enables these students to be fully integrated into the main school curriculum and extended school activities. “Lessons observed showed a high level of challenge for pupils” (Ofsted 2015) VIBRANT AND EXCITING We serve a vibrant, multicultural community and celebrate our diversity while promoting the core British values of respect and tolerance. Our extended curricular offer is designed to enhance our students’ experiences in sporting, social, technological and cultural activities. Students have the opportunity to participate in a range of residential experiences including international trips.
