Proposed Ealing Broadway Crossrail station
Five of the 40 Crossrail stations will be in our borough –
and work will begin on Ealing Broadway next year. The
plan is to provide a genuine change in public transport
here: Better stations, faster journeys.

rossrail will run more than
62 miles from Reading
and Heathrow in the west,
through new tunnels below
central London to Shenfield and
Abbey Wood in the east.
Along the way, it will take in Acton
Mainline, Ealing Broadway, Hanwell,
Southall and West Ealing stations.
These will each benefit from better
buildings, new ticket halls and
other improvements.

FIRST ON THE TRACKS:
EALING BROADWAY
Ealing Broadway is the local station
closest to having a final design, and it
provides a taste of what might follow
at our other four stations. Subject to
permission, work would be expected
to start in late 2015 after Ealing Council
and other organisations successfully
pushed for it to begin two years ahead
of the original schedule.
After submitting initial proposals for
Almost half of recent planning
applications within two-thirds
of a mile of the five stations
in our borough cited the new
railway as a justification
for the development
proceeding.
Ealing Broadway at the end of last year,
Crossrail worked closely with the council,
community groups, developers and
nearby landowners to revise and improve
the plans for the station.
The final result was an eye-catching
design featuring a long, curved canopy
running the length of the forecourt. This
glass station structure will replace the
current dated façade and provide a new
entrance that is twice the size of the
existing one, and will allow much more
