ADVERTISEMENT FEATURE BRENTSIDE HIGH SCHOOL Learning and achieving together September 2014: The start of a new school year and, for Year 7 students at Brentside High School, it is the beginning of a very exciting journey that will ultimately impact on the rest of their lives. A n exhilarating challenge touched, no doubt, with a hint of fear from students and parents alike. Deciding where to send your child to school is not easy. Will my child be safe and happy? Will they succeed? Is this the best school for them? At Brentside High School we take pride in knowing that the answer is a resounding ‘yes’! How can we be so sure? Many parents look to Ofsted for help and Brentside’s last inspection judged care, guidance and support for students as ‘exceptional’. The report also praised “a culture of high expectations, mutual respect and success.” A key indicator of this success is the progress made by students in English and mathematics, which places the school in the top 2% and 5% respectively of all schools in England. As a result, we were very proud to be asked by the Mayor of London to join the Gold Club, which champions exceptional London schools to achieve excellence and invites us to share our good practice with others. Another unique feature of Brentside is its high quality partnerships and recent examples include students broadcasting on Radio 4 at the royal opening of the new BBC Broadcasting House, being involved in a special exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery where our students’ work is currently being exhibited and staring in a training video for Transport for London. Our staff really do go the extra mile to make such opportunities a reality for our students. What better way to help you make your choice than to hear what other parents have to say? One Year 7 parent said: “Our son absolutely loves it. We are more than pleased with his progress and are confident that we made the right decision.” Another said: “Our daughter is doing really well academically. The support that students receive is, quite simply, excellent.” The Brentside atmosphere is evident as soon as you step through the doors. There is no escaping the warm community feel of this highly successful school. But please do not take our word for it; come and see for yourselves!
