UP FRONT: IN FOCUS council is changing WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP? There are lots of ways people can give back to the community, whether that is helping other people or helping to create a better borough. On page 16-17 of the magazine you can find out more about volunteering opportunities in the borough and also about a website called Bubble dedicated to helping you ‘do something good’. A council scheme called Transform Your Space has been helping residents restore unloved corners and bring them back into community life. The third round of the scheme welcomed your ideas this summer, and a panel of judges has been deciding who should be awarded a share of the money to carry out a project. You can read more at ealingnewsextra.co.uk The council also works with a number of residents from “Part of making that happen will be working with residents and community groups more closely than ever before and giving them tools to help ensure this borough remains a great place to live.” If you have any feedback on Future Ealing at this stage you can email [email protected] The nine aims Foster carers people taking care of trees, or working in local parks and open spaces. That is what our nine aims for the future are all about: To reduce the barriers to equality, and make sure everyone has the opportunities to live well and thrive. “It is impossible to avoid the fact that the council now has a lot less money. And, yes, we will need to prioritise how we spend what money we have. “But, we don’t want to simply tell a tale of cut, cut, cut; we want to take charge of our own agenda and decide how we can make the best of the situation we find ourselves in. 1 A clean, great place to live 2 Growing economy creating jobs and opportunities 3 More affordable housing 4 Reducing crime and helping residents feel safe 5 Helping young people achieve their potential 6 Keeping young people safe Helping residents stay healthy, active and independent 7 8 An environmentally friendly borough 9 A strong, diverse and fair community Transform Your Space around ealing    October 2017 7
