Be drawn to the park

An artist will be leading some family fun in Walpole Park this month , encouraging you to ‘ draw ’ inspiration from the beautiful surroundings to create some art . The Big Draw is to take place at the park , off Mattock Lane in Ealing , on Saturday , 28 October – at the end of the autumn half term holiday .
Starting at around 2pm , the afternoon ’ s artistic activities will be themed around ‘ animation ’. The event will culminate in a ‘ bat walk ’ at 5.30pm . You will be taken to visit the known bat ‘ hang outs ’ around the park , learn some facts about these nocturnal creatures and see if you can see and hear them using special bat detectors as evening settles in . Sweeping up leaves

Street sweeping teams will be taking to the streets over the coming weeks to tackle the increase in fallen autumn leaves . Teams will be prioritising the clear-up of leaves on the basis of making key public places safer , starting with areas outside schools , hospitals and day centres before moving on to shopping areas and public transport stations . They will also be clearing steep hills and streets identified as having the heaviest leaf fall and anywhere that leaves are thought to pose a risk of causing roads to flood . Extra temporary road cleaners are being deployed to help the crews working across the borough during the heaviest leaf fall period , which can last between five and eight weeks across October and November , depending on the weather .
