A library and its services

The Downtown Library had
reached its limits, as outdated
design and space constraints
hamstrung its ability to serve
its patrons.
After years of research
and planning, the City is
proud to introduce designs
for the George W. Hawkes
Downtown Library that will not

only enhance education and programming for all ages and demographics but will also serve as a catalyst for additional
development in the heart of Arlington. The building features upgraded square footage, more public meeting space and an
outdoor plaza.
To turn this groundbreaking concept into a reality, the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation gifted more than $4 million
toward the cornerstone of Arlington’s future.
