We are committed to creating better, safer communities for Arlington’s citizens. To that end, we support organizations that celebrate civic responsibility and promote a shared commitment to enriching and enhancing our city. Corridor Beautification Pilot Attractive cities prosper—residents feel a sense of pride, visitors return, and businesses flourish. To permanently alter Arlington’s landscape, the Foundation provided $250,000 in seed funding to the City for a pilot program that provides immediate visual improvement with a little help from Mother Nature. Through the use of native plants, which require minimal maintenance and natural resources, Arlington will be dressed in its Sunday best every day. Now, new landscaping creates a natural screen in front of dilapidated fencing and other visual eyesores. 8 Animals Sometimes feline and canine companions need extra TLC to find their forever homes. Through a $10,000 grant, the Foundation empowered Sponsor Adoptions, whose mission is to reduce euthanasia in animal shelters, to provide medication for 18 animals in the two final months of 2015, with many more furry friends expected to receive treatment in 2016.
