Dancing, cheering and chanting, almost two thousand people showed spirit for their favorite nonprofit at the 2015 North Texas Giving Day Arlington Gives! Rally. The Arlington Gives! Rally, hosted by the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation, was a celebration of the vital work performed day in and day out by the City’s charitable sector and a reminder of the importance of philanthropy for ensuring our City is a better place to call home. Since 2009, Giving Day, coordinated by the Communities Foundation of Texas, has transformed into a fundraising juggernaut and awareness-building event that has helped nearly 3,500 area nonprofits. The annual online giving event encourages Texans to donate to organizations while the Communities Foundation and philanthropy groups like the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation match each donation in part to ensure contributors’ dollars are multiplied. Nurturing Arlington’s already strong culture of philanthropy, the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation awarded more than $50,000 in bonus grants to Arlington-based charities during the 18-hour event and helped generate more than 4,200 gifts worth $792,000 to the American Dream City’s nonprofits by day’s end.
