A Letter from
the Board President
Hindsight, as they say, is 20/20. Foresight, well that’s extraordinary.

Ten years ago, the City of Arlington had a decision to make. What would we do with a financial
windfall from city-based natural gas drilling activities? Like any city our size, the needs are stubbornly
persistent and sizable – transportation and waste management systems, emergency services, and so on.
And like most cities do, we could have used the windfall to fund ongoing city services.

Yet we chose a different path.
Unlike any other city in our region, we found strength and inspiration in the varied nonprofit
organizations caring for our City’s people and places, and we determined to join them in their good work.

In 2007, the City of Arlington did an extraordinary thing. It created the Arlington Tomorro
