First Day Tweet-Along
Superintendent Dr. Marcelo Cavazos visited 11 campuses during his fifth annual tweet-along for the first dayof
school Monday, Aug. 22. He started the day assisting with the crosswalk at Bryant Elementary, made his way to
Shackelford Junior High during its first lunch period and ended the day with an umbrella in hand to help with a rainy
dismissal at South Davis Elementary. When it was all said and done, Cavazos traveled 43.1 miles by car and took
11,240 steps in nearly nine hours to visit Bryant, Shackelford and South Davis as well as Fitzgerald, McNutt, Peach
and Crow elementaries, Corey Academy, Carter and Workman junior highs, and Arlington High School.
